You what I love about October the most? Just the fact that we’re starting (and I say that with great hesitation) to cool off. Those long walks on the beach after work are much nicer when you’re not sweating to death. So let’s indulge in Five Fun Things for Fall (IE October...)

1. Enjoy the view. This is the Anna Maria Island Pier, where I stopped Sunday and discovered Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop and a very nice chocolate ice cream with walnuts and chocolate bits. Sat in the shade, watch a few dolphins playing around, and enjoyed my treat.

2. Taking a walk through downtown Dunedin and realizing that on the very large grill that was right on the sidewalk, outside The Broadway Grill on Broadway, is a 20 pound prime rib roast sizzling away for dinner. If only I could move faster it could have been mine.

3. There is now a legitimate excuse for filling your shopping cart with candy. It’s for the kids for Halloween. Buying that?!

4. Speaking of which, remember that one house in the neighborhood that gave out "healthy treats" like boxes of raisins? Uh huh, went over real big! But here’s a thought; they’re called "Smencils" and are 100% recycled pens and pencils that are dipped in delicious scents like Goblin Grape and Slime Lime. Not cheap however. $2.50 each at smencils.com.

5. But if you’re looking for a treat with the calorie equivalent of raisins that’s a lot more fun, did you know candy corn has the same calories per cup as raisins and it’s also fat free? October 30^th is National Candy Corn Day, so party on my foodie friends.
