The food truck industry in relatively young, but a very appealing way to begin a new business for many in the Bay area. And it can be costly if you don’t quite know what you’re doing. The Boston Business Journal noted the average start-up cost for a food truck to be in the $100,000 range. That’s some serious bucks so if you’re in the mood for taking your culinary talents to the streets it might be a good idea to get a little advice first from those who have been there. Shannon Sturtz, Director of Operations for Tasting Tampa Inc. let us know in Kelly’s Kitchen about their Food Truck Seminar on Sunday from 5-9 pm in South Tampa. Ever wondered exactly what those startup costs might be, just where to buy one, and just how to market your specialty? It’s a good chance to learn from those who have been there and reservations are required. Interested? Contact shannon@tastingtampa.com; the cost is $100 per person, but if you’re the second person from the same truck, they’ll cut your entry fee in half to $50. Tasting Tampa is a great resource for finding where local food truck rallies will be. Check it out and good luck with the new venture. Feel free to tell me all about it in Kelly’s Kitchen at ann.kelly@coxinc.com
