So, you’ve made the choice to send your kids back to school in the Fall.
First of all, I know we’ve all seen this circulating around:
I’ve seen this circulating and it’s worth sharing. This is not an easy decision and every parent wants what’s best for their child. 📚

Sooooo, ‘MAN, I’M SO PROUD OF YOU! I KNOW IT WASN’T EASY MAKING THAT DECISION!'
Now, depending on what school district you’re in, you may be wondering how the heck you’re going to convince your child to wear their face mask at school.
I’ve been working on this with my boys at home, and I have a couple of ideas that might help you out!!
1. Buy Masks That Have Fun Designs on Them - And Let Your Kids Help Pick Them Out!!
When I was struggling to get my kids to eat for a while (both of my boys have gone though this stage), I read somewhere that if I let them help make the food, they’d be more inclined to want to eat it. And for the most part, that worked! So, I have applied it here too. Think of the things that they like (Frozen, Pokemon, Sports, etc). Find masks that have these items on them, and let your child help you pick several out. First of all, the more options they have, the more fun it will continue to be to pick out their mask each day, even after the novelty wears off. Second of all, you’ll want to have a good selection on hand because it is recommended that you wash them after each use. And if your child has a super specific interest that you can’t find on a mask (we’ve got a couple of those in our house ❤) there are some places that will add a vinyl design to any mask. This is my favorite local person doing this right now:
More custom masks going out! Happy 4th everyone! 🇺🇸

2. Lead by example.
Your kids want to be like YOU. So, if you wear your mask, they’re more likely to wear their mask. Make it seem like a fun adventure, even if it doesn’t always feel like one to you. 😂
3. HAVE YOUR KIDS PRACTICE WEARING THEIR MASK AT HOME NOW!!
This one is SUPER important, for numerous reasons. First, you’ll be able to re-iterate the proper way to wear a mask. You can remind them to adjust it as they play, which will make it more likely that they’ll know to do it when they get back to school. You’ll also know how the mask fits. Does it get uncomfortable around their ears? Does it slip all day? Make these observations before you commit to a huge stash so that you can be sure you’ve got the right mask for your child. Do activities at home and wear them together (see #2). Play a game to see which of your kids (if you have more than one) can keep their mask on the longest. No matter how you choose to do it, practicing now will set you up for success later.
These are a few of the things that we’ve been doing to help our boys, but I’d LOVE to hear what has been working for you! Leave your ideas in the comments, or email them to me at danielle@mymagic949.com!!
