Meet the Little Boy from St. Pete Who Wins Halloween EVERY SINGLE YEAR

As a mom of two little boys, Halloween is one of my absolute FAVORITE DAYS of the year...

And although I’d like to think we get pretty creative with our family costumes (last year, our youngest wanted to be the ‘big bad wolf’ so we dressed up like inflatable pigs and ran away from him all night), there is one little boy in St. Pete who seems to win Halloween every single year with the most AMAZING costumes.

This is Landon, and his mom, Michelle Morales, is the reason he goes ALL OUT every single year for Halloween.

As a single mom of a special needs child, who has found so many clever ways to incorporate his wheelchair into some of his best costumes yet, I wanted to reach out to find out exactly what Halloween means to her family.

Why is Halloween is such an important holiday in your house with Landon?

Michelle: Halloween is the one holiday during the year that his wheelchair isn’t something people stare at because it’s awkward, but they stare at because it’s part of his unique costume. It’s funny because people always ask me now “What’s Landon going to be for Halloween?” Like they are anxiously awaiting in anticipation to see what the next creation is going to be.

You’ve come up with some really creative costumes over the years, and some have even gotten the attention of celebrities! Can you talk about those?

Michelle: I dressed up Landon as DJ Pauly D from MTV’s hit tv show Jersey Shore when he was three years old and last year at a charity event I brought that picture along with me because I knew one of his cast mates, Deena Cortese was going to be in attendance and I wanted to show her. She loved it so much that she asked if she could take a pic and text it to DJ Pauly D and he instantly responded and said how much he loved it and even commented on our instagram picture. And then when Landon was Jimmy Fallon from the Tonight Show the show actually ended up tweeting his picture as one of their favorite costumes from viewers and year after year they still share.

What has your favorite costume been?

This is a tough question, but I would have to say Pee Wee Herman for several reasons, one because I grew up watching “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” and secondly,  my mom and I worked tirelessly on turning his wheelchair into “Chairry” and it was quality bonding time with her.

What about Landon – is there one that sticks out to him as a favorite?

Hands down the Target costume for Landon. It was simple, but the employees of the Gateway Target went over the top to make him his very own name tag and allowed him to snap pics near the register. It was like he was an honorary employee. He’s a very sociable kiddo, so he loves saying “hi” to as many people as possible and strolling the aisles.

Are you up for giving us any hints, or maybe a sneak peek, of this year’s costume?

What I can say is that 2020 has been a very odd year for all of us and I think if we all could, we’d love to escape it.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I definitely cannot pull off these amazing costume creations alone. I have some of the most helpful creative family and friends, who always come and help Landon no matter what the circumstances. Thank you all, we love you guys!

Michelle and Landon are two of my very favorite people, and if there’s anyone in this world that I hope to live up to each Halloween, they’re it for sure. ❤
