Ed Sheeran Talks About His 50 Pound Weight Loss

Ed Sheeran is everyone’s favorite singing ginger. He’s adorable, funny, and relatable. Now, the ‘Shape Of You’ singer is sharing his journey to an impressive 50 lbs weight loss.

In a recently released podcast from Behind The Medal Podcast, Sheeran discussed his diet changes and fitness routines that led to his weight loss. He states that his fitness regime includes a 45-minute run and swimming or sit-ups.

He recalled that during his hugely successful X Tour in 2014-2015, he weighed “15 to 16” stone, upwards of 224 lbs. Now, he is hitting the scales at “12 stone,” or 168 lbs. Sheeran shared that during the tour, his days consisted of partying all night, no exercise, and sleeping until late afternoon, contributing to his weight gain and taking away from his opportunities to see the places he traveled to.

Once Sheeran decided to stop smoking, he was aware that “my lungs were so full of s*** that I needed to clear them out,” which led to him running while on the road.

Sheeran said that his main reason to begin exercising was to clear his lungs, he also said that social media “trolls,” newspapers, and comments that would point out his size added a lot of external pressure to look like other male stars. “You kind of get it in your head that you need to look like everyone else,” he said while recalling the first years of his career. “I never once had any insecurities really about myself until people pointed them out.”

We will also love Ed Sheeran and we are so happy that he has found a routine that not only fits his hectic music life but also makes him happy!
