1 person dead, 2 injured in Montana plane crash

One person died and two people were injured when a plane crashed in southwestern Montana on Thursday, authorities said.

The twin-engine Cessna 337 Skymaster crashed in a mountainous region, according to Allen Kenitzer, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Just before 11 a.m., someone in the plane called 911, KTMF reported. The airplane was found around 3 p.m., the television station reported. It was headed from Helena to Jackson, Wyoming.

Madison County Sheriff Phil Fortner said the plane went down in the Madison Range between Ennis Lake and Big Sky, KTVM reported.

The crash is currently under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.

The identities of the plane’s occupants have not been released, KTMF reported.
