NEW YORK — A cashier working at a Burger King in New York City was fatally shot by a robber early Sunday, authorities said.
Kristal Bayron-Nieves, 19, was killed at the fast-food restaurant in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, WABC-TV reported.
Police arrived at the Burger King at about 12:45 a.m. EST and found Bayron-Nieves with a gunshot wound to her torso, the television station reported.
The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to WPIX-TV.
According to police, a man entered the restaurant and displayed a weapon, demanding cash, WABC reported. The gunman then shot Bayron-Nieves and fled the restaurant, according to the television station.
It is unclear how much money was taken from the restaurant, WCBS-TV reported. The television station reported that the restaurant’s manager and a customer were also attacked. They are expected to recover, police said.
