RUSK COUNTY, Texas — Investigators are searching for two people they believed were involved with dumping a body in Rusk County, Texas, officials say.
In a news release, the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office said that on Thursday, deputies were called out for a death investigation on Rusk County Road 169D. Investigators learned that the victim had died at another location and was dumped in the area to “conceal the cause and location of the death.”
Evidence led investigators to obtain a search warrant at a house in Kilgore, Texas, deputies said. Deputies seized methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and other evidence.
Deputies issued arrest warrants for William Welch, 36, and Stephanie Kravis, 36, according to KYTX. They have both been identified as persons of interest in the case.
Welch and Kravis are reportedly facing charges for possession of a controlled substance, abuse of a corpse, and engaging in organized criminal activity, the news outlet reported.
Investigators are working on locating Welch and Kravis. They also are investigating what led up to the incident or a possible motive.
Deputies say they are not releasing the name of hte victim due to the ongoing investigation. Their family has also not yet been notified.
