The first seizure occurred Tuesday when officers intercepted a 2007 Wabash National trailer carrying a shipment of brooms that investigators determined contained 32 packages of suspected cocaine. The estimated street value of the haul, which weighed nearly 81 pounds, was nearly $1.1 million, the agency stated in a news release.

The second seizure occurred later that evening when investigators found more than 31 pounds of suspected heroin and more than 1,047 pounds of suspected methamphetamine hidden within a 2004 Transcraft trailer manifesting a shipment of sheetrock. The estimated street value of the narcotics was slightly more than $10 million, the agency stated.

“CBP continues to work with our law enforcement partners to foil illicit transnational criminal organization attempts to smuggle their product through our cargo facilities,” Port Director Alberto Flores said in a prepared statement.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers seized the narcotics, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations agents are investigating.
