Mom charged, accused of dumping boy’s body in river

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — An Ohio mother has been charged after she told police she and her boyfriend dumped her son’s body into a river.

Brittany Gosney reported her 6-year-old son, James Hutchinson, missing Sunday morning. Police in Middleton started searching for the boy, but as investigators questioned Gosney and her boyfriend James Hamilton, police discovered James had been killed a few days prior in Preble County, northwest of Middleton, on the Indiana border, WCPO reported.

Police said Gosney admitted to taking her son to Rush Run Wildlife Area and was planning on leaving him there, WHIO reported. Click here to read more of the disturbing allegations uncovered by WHIO. Warning, the details are graphic.

Police said Gosney and Hamilton brought the boy’s body back to his hometown and threw him into the Ohio River, WKRC reported.

Police are still searching for James’ body, but are having difficulties because of high water levels, WCPO reported.

Gosney has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence, WLWT reported.

Hamilton was charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Two other children who lived in the home have been removed, Cleveland.com reported.

Grief counselors are at the school where James and his siblings attended, WHIO reported.
