According to WPXI-TV, the deadly shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. Monday at a home on Maplewood Avenue in Ambridge. Ambridge police arrived to find the two victims dead, the news station reported.

Ambridge police identified the victims Tuesday morning as 16-year-old Jeffrey Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady, the TV station reported.

Police arrested the victims’ mother, 48-year-old Krisinda Bright, on homicide charges, according to WPXI. Investigators believe she is also the person who called 911 to report the shooting, Ambridge police Interim Chief John Deluca told the news outlet.

According to WPXI, one of the slain children attended Ambridge Area High School. In a letter to parents, the school said counselors would be available for students who need help coping with the loss, according to the news station.

“We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child,” the letter read.

Authorities have not revealed a motive for the shooting, according to WPXI.
