LEICESTER, Mass. — A driver who rammed the entrance of the Leicester police station Sunday morning and pointed a rifle at officers was fatally shot, investigators said.
Updated 3:45 p.m. May 9: Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said a white man in his early 20s known to police to have an upcoming court date for a traffic violation rammed his SUV almost completely through the lobby of the Leicester Police Station, WFXT reported.
The man, who has not been identified, was shot after pointing a rifle. He was then provided medical aid but later died.
Investigators said it was an isolated incident and there was no other threat to the public.
No officers were injured. Two officers are on administrative leave.

It is unclear if the person who was shot was killed or the extent of the injuries. Investigators said more information would be released later Sunday.

The front of the police station was heavily damaged after a silver Toyota FJ Cruiser crashed through the entrance, the Telegram & Gazette reported.

A dispatcher said the driver appeared to “get out of the lobby then just came back in again.”
