Manatees have been spotted in Lake County.

The story made headlines this week here in central Florida and all over the world.

The sea cows have been reported in Little Lake Harris and several other lakes in the area.

Manatees aren't often seen in fresh water lakes but wildlife officials say it does happen from time to time.  The sea cows typically move inland from the coast during cold weather, seeking warmer water.

In this case, experts speculate the manatees migrated inland from the Ocklawaha River to Lake Harris and then on to other lakes in the area.

The manatees caught dozens of swimmers off guard including the girl in the video below.  (Source: News965)

Apparently, she doesn't know that manatees are docile herbivores and pose no threat to humans.
