Christina Aguilera & Sabrina Carpenter

The Collab 25 Years In The Making

It was 1999. Fashion trends included baby tee’s, flannel shirts, low-rise jeans, scrunchies and slip-dresses. ‘The Matrix’, ‘Fight Club’ and ‘American Beauty’ were in theaters. Boy Bands were all over the radio. New on the music scene was a girl from Staten Island named Christina Aguilera.

Her self-titled debut album gave us hits like ‘Genie In A Bottle’, ‘Come On Over’ and ‘What A Girl Wants’.

I still remember when she was in town playing at a fair. There were rumors she was across the grounds riding go-karts. Of course we went to check it out and her team had the area shut down so she could cruise around the course on 4 mini wheels. It’s an oddly specific celebrity memory I hope never fades away.

We jump ahead 25 years and XTINA is planning on re-imagining a handful of those songs from her first album. She won’t be doing it alone, however. She has formed a friendship with one of today’s newest and biggest stars, Sabrina Carpenter. SC grew up listening to those early songs and it helped her become who she is today.

I’m excited to hear what the Christina Aguilera and Sabrina Carpenter collab will sound like. 25 years in the making.
