Forget about the food, fast food chains are now turning their focus to specialized drinks with Taco Bell already making their mark on the scene.
Now, McDonald’s is looking to join the war by expanding their drink menu to now include six crafted beverages:
Starting May 6, McDonald’s will offer three refreshers:
- Mango Pineapple Refresher with strawberry boba
- Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher with freeze-dried dragon fruit
- Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
As well as three crafted sodas:
- Dirty Dr. Pepper with vanilla flavoring and a topping of cold foam
- Sprite Berry Blast
- Orange Dream
The strategy is simple: drinks are cheaper to make, carry higher profit margins, and give customers a reason to stop by—even when they’re not hungry for a full meal.
It’s also a way for chains to compete with coffee-focused brands like Starbucks and Dunkin’, which have long dominated the beverage space.
As competition heats up, one thing is clear: in the fast food world, drinks are no longer just a side—they’re becoming the main event.
