Over Thanksgiving Break, I decided to take a whole week off to spend time with my family... <3
We kept ourselves busy every single day, but the highlight of the week was our trip to ICE! at Gaylord Palms.
My husband and I had been - before kids - so we knew what to expect, but watching their little faces light up as they realized that EVERYTHING was made of ice was my favorite part of the whole day.
If you haven’t been before, the #1 thing I’d recommend is to DRESS IN LAYERS. We spent a lot of time in the Christmas Marketplace outside of the actual exhibit, but once you step inside ICE! it’s exactly that...ICE - and literally TONS of it. In order to keep everything in tact for the entire season, they have to keep the temperature at 9 DEGREES - which can be quite the surprise for us Floridians!! Before you head in, they’ll give you a parka that really helps when you go down the ICE SLIDE, but don’t let that be your only layer.
The theme this year was Polar Express - and as soon as we walked in, we laid eyes on the most massive train ever...made entirely of, you guessed it, ICE!
Yep!! Even the steps you take up to some of the statues that you can take pictures with are made entirely of ice (that they cover with a piece of carpet, of course, so you don’t trip and fall.
We spent about 30 minutes in the exhibit and then un-layered and got ready for SNOW TUBING!!
We bought 4 all-day passes, and it was a BLAST. I really liked that they had two groupings of slides setup - so after you went down the first slide, they sent you back into a shorter line for the second slide before you started over again.
ICE! opened up on November 25th and will stay open through January 5th. You can grab your tickets here!!
