According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 95, WSVN reported. Troopers said the metal flew off a truck and into the windshield of Eduardo Medina’s truck, WPTV reported. The metal missed Medina by inches, although he did suffer a few scratches on his face and hands from the shattered glass.

Medina, who speaks Spanish, had his wife, Norma Rodriquez, translate his reaction.

“All he heard was an explosion," Rodriquez told WPTV. “He said he is fine, nothing hurts, nothing hit him.”

Lt. Yanko Reyes of the Florida Highway Patrol said the metal could have killed Medina.

“That could have been a fatal case,” Reyes told WPTV. “A case like this, you could be charged criminally. You could go to jail for this because you are causing injuries.”

“He is lucky to be alive,” Delray Beach Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Todd Lynch said in a Facebook post.
