Have you ever pictured in your mind the perfect date night? You play it over and over in your head like a movie. That was me last week planning out our date night for our 3 year anniversary. My girlfriend and I started dating in 2021 after many months of being “just friends”, you know how that goes LOL. Well, I wanted to make this years dinner special to celebrate. The plan in my head was we would go to Bern’s Steakhouse, oh yeah I was trying to go ALL OUT for date night... After scrolling through the internet it became apparent that it’s impossible to get a reservation there. My plan than adjusted to thinking we could just show up right at 5pm when it opens so the wait wouldn’t be too long to get a table. So we dressed up all fancy, even put on cologne, then hit the road with an ETA of 5:10pm. Sounds good right? WRONG! We get to valet and walk in only to find out that even though it’s only 5:11pm, there’s already a 2 hour wait! How is it already that long of a wait?!
In that that moment I felt like I failed our anniversary dinner... The thoughts kept running in my mind like “Why didn’t you plan this further out?” But I was determined to make this night special. I hoped on my phone and quickly made a 5:45pm reservation for Ocean Prime which was right up the road. Right when we showed up, I knew that this date night was going to be something special. As soon as they sat us, the waiter comes up with free champagne for us to cheers to celebrate our anniversary. Then, another waiter walks up and showers us in flower pedals! It was as if we were in a romantic movie. After enjoying a beautiful meal including french onion soup, lobster bisque, sushi and lamb chops, we had another surprise from this amazing staff. They come walking out with a gorgeous, mouth watering desert with a note on it saying “Happy Anniversary”.
We walked out of the restaurant that night full of food and full of love. A night that was almost ruined, actually ended up being better than expected. It was such a beautiful reminder to keep an open mind and when one door closes just find another door. I also learned if you want to go to Bern’s, plan it and book it months out LOL.
Here is a little video I put together to celebrate our three years together!
