Haven’t heard of the Flugtag? Oh....you’re gonna wanna see this.
The Red Bull Flugtag is a competition where teams create their own vessel/craft - that can only be powered by human strength - and attempt to launch and ‘fly’ off of a raised platform. The competition is to see who can fly the farthest before hitting the water.
The Flugtag has grown over the years and actually happened once in Tampa about 13 years ago. Now, 100,000+ spectators are expected to show up on November 9th to watch the competition here in Tampa Bay!
Want to compete? Registration opens on July 8th at https://www.redbull.com/us-en/. Then the competition will take place at the Tampa Convention Center (333 S Franklin St), where a 27-foot-tall deck will be built on the water and 40 teams will be able to compete.
