Sabrina Carpenter is officially entering her Muppet era — and honestly, it makes perfect sense.
The pop star is the special guest for an upcoming The Muppet Show musical event, set to premiere February 4 on Disney+ and ABC, and the first teaser already has fans buzzing. Think classic Muppets chaos, lots of heart, behind-the-scenes antics… and yes, matching outfits with Miss Piggy (because obviously).
In the teaser, Sabrina gives Miss Piggy a little pre-show pep talk, telling her, “You are an icon.” Piggy pretends to brush it off — but you can tell she’s absolutely eating it up. Moments later, the two are twinning in coordinated looks, proving that pop princess energy pairs perfectly with Muppet royalty.
The special marks a return to the original Muppet Theatre, complete with new music and the kind of playful, self-aware humor the franchise is known for. Executive producer Seth Rogen even pops up in the teaser, telling Fozzie Bear that being part of The Muppet Show has always been a dream of his — a statement Fozzie questions with his usual blunt honesty.
And then there’s Kermit. Calm, collected, and slightly stressed (relatable), Kermit the Frog lays out what’s at stake: this is the return of The Muppet Show to the very stage where it all began… then ended… and maybe is starting again — depending on how tonight goes. No pressure at all.
Disney first announced plans for the revival back in September 2025, perfectly timed to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary. The original Muppet Show debuted in 1976 as a variety series and quickly became a cultural icon. Longtime performers are back for the special, including Dave Goelz (the voice of Gonzo the Great), along with Bill Barretta, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, and David Rudman.
This new event follows a recent wave of Muppet projects, including The Muppets Mayhem in 2023 (which featured guests like Lil Nas X and Kesha), Muppets Now in 2020 (with cameos from RuPaul, Aubrey Plaza, and Danny Trejo), and Muppets Haunted Mansion in 2021.
Between the nostalgia, the music, and Sabrina Carpenter casually becoming besties with Miss Piggy, this feels like a can’t-miss moment — whether you grew up with The Muppets or you’re just here for the vibes.
